On the Internet, bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted through a network connection at any given time. Typically, bandwidth is expressed in kilobits per second (kbps), megabits per second (mbps) or bits per second (bps). The larger the bandwidth, the more amount of information that can be sent over the data line in a fixed period of time (usually 1 second). Machines with higher bandwidths are more efficient. |
